On January 11, 2025, the Holy See announced that Pope Francis appointed Frank Cardinal Leo as a member of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Legislative Texts. As part of their responsibilities as members of the College of Cardinals, each cardinal holds additional responsibilities and appointments to the Holy See's governance structure. This appointment does not impact Cardinal Leo’s primary responsibility as Metropolitan Archbishop of Toronto.

The Vatican Dicastery for Legislative Texts was established to promote the understanding and application of canon law in the Catholic Church. Its primary responsibilities include assisting the Roman Pontiff, curial institutions, and bishops in the correct interpretation and application of Church laws, both for the Latin Church and the Eastern Churches.

Additional information can be found through the dicastery website by clicking here.

We pray for Cardinal Leo as he takes on this additional responsibility in service to the Catholic Church worldwide.
